Owning An Australian Shepherd Puppy

If you are a dog lover then you would definitely love an Australian shepherd puppy.

What is an Australian shepherd puppy?

An Australian shepherd is herding dog by breed. Contrary to popular belief, “the Aussie” (as the Australian shepherd is fondly called) was not bred nor developed in Australia. It was actually developed in the United States.

The Aussie is highly valued by its owners because of its inherent trainability. These dogs are very versatile and easy to train on top of being unbearably cute and cuddly. The Aussies eagerly await their masters and are ready to do their every bidding just like a suitor trying to score a hot date.

You may be wondering what the Aussie has that separates itself from all those beady eyed dogs.

The cute little creature is a medium-built and very robust hound. The ears are high on its head and have a triangular shaped tip. The fur on its body is smooth to the touch and ticklish to the finger tips. Its wavy fur bounces beautifully as it plays with you or runs around chasing its tail. The tail of the Aussie can stretch to four inches and its legs are slightly feathered.

The male Aussies have small manes that surround their cute little heads. The manes are more prominent on the male Aussies compared to the female Aussies. These dogs also have broad chests but not as deep as other herding dogs. The eyes are oval shaped and can have varying degrees of colors such as blue, amber, brown, and the eye color flecks to make beautiful hue inside its beady eyes. The coat that wraps around its body changes color depending on the climate that it grows up in. The colors of its coat range from black, blue, red, and a combination of the colors dotted with white shaded markings.

The Australian shepherd puppy has a laid back attitude that makes it easy to get along with whoever owns it. The pup is tame and mild mannered. The puppy’s easy going demeanor makes it hard not to be affected by its soothing personality. Despite its mild mannered nature, the Aussie is a protective pet that makes it fit as a watchdog. You can leave your children behind with it and it would protect them as if they were its own. The Aussie is an outdoor animal that loves to run around open fields, so you are going to find it difficult to leave it locked up inside a living room.
